VS6 Type Vertical Suspended Pumps

The TDS VS6 pump is a vertically suspended, double-casing centrifugal pump designed for API 610 process service. Its canned arrangement and radial impeller make this vertical suspended pump suitable for duties where available NPSH is limited, subject to the specified fluid, temperature, materials and operating range. The API 610 VS6 configuration is used in chemical, petrochemical, hydrocarbon-processing, oil-and-gas, refinery, pipeline and cryogenic services that require a vertical double-casing arrangement.

Features of API 610 VS6 Vertical Suspended Pumps

  • Double-casing arrangement for services with limited available NPSH

  • Vertical shaft arrangement with a compact installation footprint

  • Single-suction radial impeller configuration

  • Multistage construction for the specified head requirement

  • Operating range and vibration performance to be confirmed against the selected model and project datasheet

  • Materials and auxiliary systems to be selected for the actual fluid and temperature

VS6 Selection for Limited-NPSH Service

A VS6 pump uses a vertical double-casing arrangement that can be applied where suction conditions make a conventional horizontal installation unsuitable. Selection still requires the actual liquid level, vessel pressure, vapor pressure, temperature, submergence, available NPSH and site layout.

  • Confirm minimum, normal and maximum liquid levels and all operating cases.

  • Define fluid composition, density, viscosity, vapor pressure, solids and corrosivity.

  • Provide the required flow, differential head, discharge pressure and minimum-flow condition.

  • Specify can length, discharge orientation, driver data, materials, inspection and monitoring requirements.

For open sump duties that do not require a double casing, compare the vertical suspended pump arrangement with an API 610 VS4 configuration before finalizing the specification.
